Cooking creatively is fun and spontaneous for me. I set the mood with jazzy music, scented candles and a blessing for all the ingredients. Then I start to "hunt and gather" by looking in fridge, pantry and cupboards.
By this time, Widget, (Angel Kitty) has heard the noise and come to investigate. I sense his telepathic vibes and sure enough, there he is sitting like a vulture peering down from the highest point of the kitchen counter.
Of course he's hoping for a snack, but he's also very interested in all the gadgets, the variety of food stuffs on the mixing table and the aromas.
Decided on a vegetable pot pie: sauteed vegetables in oil. Veggies: onions, celery, carrots, sweet potatoes, gold potatoes, peas, broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms. Made a mushroom gravy with vegetable stock and creme of mushroom soup. Put all veggies in an oiled terra cotta baking dish. Seasoned with sea salt, flower pepper and tasted to see if I had enough. Added thyme. Then I liberally added nutmeg, the secret ingredient. Poured gravy mixture over all and topped veggie mixture with dble. recipe of Bizquick biscuit dough. Baked in an oven 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until biscuit dough is golden brown. Drizzled butter over biscuit topping. Voila! Perfectly gorgeous and Yummy...
Enjoy the flavor, the beauty and Happy New Year.....
